About Agape Social
Agape Social is a faith-centered social platform built for uplifting content, authentic fellowship, and gospel community. It is a place where believers can connect, encourage one another, share sparks of faith, join groups, study Scripture, and grow together without the noise and distractions that dominate mainstream social media.
Why Agape Social Was Created
Agape Social was developed by Bill Sherley, owner of Sherley Solutions, who grew increasingly frustrated with how mainstream platforms such as Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) filled his feed with content that conflicted with his Christian beliefs.
Even in groups created specifically for fellow believers, atheist arguments, trolls, hostility, and advertisements for worldly products and lifestyles were constantly displayed. What should have been a space for encouragement and discipleship often felt like another battleground.
Bill wanted a platform designed from the ground up for believers, a community where fellowship could happen in peace, where moderation and shared beliefs matter, and where the focus stays on Christ rather than controversy, commerce, and culture wars.
Why the Name "Agape"?
The name Agape comes from the Greek word ἀγάπη (agápē), which the Bible uses for the highest form of love: selfless, sacrificial, and given without demanding anything in return. It is the love God has shown to humanity and the love He calls His people to show one another.
This is not romantic love (eros) or casual friendship (philia), but the deliberate, holy love described throughout Scripture. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (John 3:16). Love is patient and kind; it does not envy or boast (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). Greater love has no one than to lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13).
Agape is the heart of the Gospel and the standard for Christian community. That is why this platform bears its name: to remind every member that our fellowship should reflect God's love, pure, faithful, and centered on Him.
John 3:16 (KJV)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (KJV)
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
No Ads, Supported by Sponsors
From the beginning, a deliberate decision was made not to run advertisements on Agape Social. Ads for worldly products, lifestyles, and entertainment were a major reason mainstream platforms felt incompatible with a holy standard of fellowship.
Instead, Agape Social relies on sponsors, including churches, ministries, and individuals who believe in the mission, to help cover the costs of development and ongoing maintenance. Sponsors are listed in the sidebar and on the sponsor page; they support the platform without interrupting your Newsfeed with targeted marketing.
If you would like to support the platform, you can apply to become a sponsor through the sponsor application on this site.
A Place to Fellowship in Peace
Agape Social is a place where we can fellowship on a faith-centered social platform without worldly content pushing its way into every conversation. You can post sparks, join groups, follow friends, search and share Scripture, read Minister Blog articles, and build genuine relationships within a community that shares your beliefs and values.
Whether you are new to the platform or have been here since the beginning, we welcome you to participate with love, respect, and a heart for the Gospel. Together, we can build something better than what the world offers: a social space where Christ remains at the center.
