Welcome to Agape Social. Whether you just created your account or you have been exploring the site for a while, we are glad you are here. This article explains what Agape Social is, why it was built, and how you can use it to fellowship and grow with other believers in the body of Christ.
Agape Social is a faith-centered social platform built for uplifting content, authentic fellowship, and gospel community. It is a place where believers can connect, encourage one another, share short posts called Sparks, join groups, study Scripture, read minister blogs, and build real relationships without the noise and distractions that dominate mainstream social media. Our goal is simple: keep Christ at the center. Everything on this platform is designed to help the church encourage one another, share truth in love, and walk together in faith.
Agape Social was developed by Bill Sherley, who grew frustrated with how mainstream platforms such as Facebook and X filled his feed with content that conflicted with his Christian beliefs. Even in groups created for fellow believers, arguments, trolls, hostility, and advertisements for worldly products and lifestyles were common. What should have been a space for encouragement and discipleship often felt like another battleground.
Bill wanted a platform designed from the ground up for people who share Apostolic Pentecostal convictions. He envisioned a community where fellowship could happen in peace, where moderation and shared beliefs matter, and where the focus stays on Christ rather than controversy, commerce, and culture wars. Agape Social is the result of that vision.
The name comes from the Greek word agape, meaning the highest form of love in Scripture: selfless, sacrificial, and given without demanding anything in return. It is the love God has shown to humanity and the love He calls His people to show one another. This is not romantic love or casual friendship alone, but the deliberate, holy love described throughout the Bible. Agape is the heart of the Gospel and the standard for Christian community. That is why this platform bears its name: to remind every member that our fellowship should reflect God’s love, pure, faithful, and centered on Him.
From the beginning, a deliberate decision was made not to run advertisements on Agape Social. Ads for worldly products, lifestyles, and entertainment were a major reason mainstream platforms felt incompatible with a holy standard of fellowship. Instead, Agape Social is supported by sponsors, including churches, ministries, and individuals who believe in the mission. They help cover the costs of development and maintenance. Sponsors are listed on the site without interrupting your feed with targeted marketing. If you would like to support the platform, you can apply to become a sponsor through the Sponsor page.
Your profile is where others can learn who you are in the community. You can add a bio, avatar, favorite Bible verse, and photos. You control what personal details are public. After you verify your email, you can post Sparks and comment on others’ posts. Full verification, including your phone number, unlocks additional features such as creating groups.
Sparks are short faith-centered posts. They might be an encouragement, a testimony, a scripture thought, or a simple update. You can share a Spark from the Newsfeed, attach an optional image, and respond to others with Agape, Amen, or Praying reactions. Comments let you join the conversation and build others up in the faith.
The Newsfeed is your home page after you sign in. It shows recent activity from the community and from groups you belong to. If you want to focus on specific people, use the Following page to see sparks only from members you follow, such as friends, family, or ministers you care about.
Groups give churches, ministries, organizations, and interest communities a place to gather online. You can browse groups from the sidebar, join those that fit you, and share sparks within your church or ministry community. The Bible tool lets you read and search the King James Version. You can browse books and chapters, search for passages, and share verses as Sparks so others can read Scripture in context.
Ministers may publish longer articles in Minister Blogs for devotionals, teachings, and encouragement. You can read published blogs, comment on articles, and take part in discussions that help you grow. Visit profiles, follow members whose posts bless you, and participate in ways that honor Christ and respect the community rules.
The church is not meant to walk alone. Scripture calls believers to consider one another, to stir up love and good works, and not to forsake assembling together. Agape Social is one way to stay connected between services. You can pray for one another, share what God is doing, study the Word, and encourage saints who may be far away but still part of the same body.
Use this platform to encourage someone who is discouraged, to share a testimony of what God has done, or to post Scripture that strengthened you. Join your church or ministry group online, follow ministers and members whose faith challenges you to grow, and build friendships rooted in Christ rather than in endless debate. We are not perfect, and no online community replaces the local church, prayer, worship, and face-to-face fellowship. Agape Social is a tool to supplement what God is already doing in your life and congregation, not to replace it.
Whether you are new today or have been with us since the beginning, you belong here as a fellow believer seeking a safer, Christ-honoring place online. Participate with love, respect, and a heart for the Gospel. Read the About, Core Beliefs, Rules, and FAQ pages to learn more. If you have questions or suggestions, use the Feedback link in the sidebar.
Together, we can build something better than what the world offers: a social space where Christ remains at the center, where agape love is more than a name, and where the saints can fellowship in peace.
Welcome to Agape Social. We are glad you are part of the family.
Grace and peace,
The Agape Social Team
