Ten lepers were healed by Jesus, but only one came back to thank Him.

The ten stood far off and cried out together for mercy. Jesus told them to go show themselves to the priests, and as they went, all ten were cleansed. Only one turned back. He glorified God with a loud voice, fell on his face at the feet of Jesus, and gave Him thanks. He was a Samaritan, a stranger.

Luke 17:11-19 (KJV) And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

The nine did not lose their healing, because God does not take back His gifts. They just forgot who healed them.

Romans 11:29 (KJV) For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Israel did the same thing after God brought them through the Red Sea. They sang His praise, and then they soon forgot His works.

Psalms 106:12-13 (KJV) Then believed they his words; they sang his praise. They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:

The one who came back received more than the nine. All ten were cleansed, but Jesus told only this one that his faith had made him whole.

Giving thanks is not something we do only when things are going well. Daniel knew the king's decree had been signed, and he still went home and gave thanks to God three times a day.

Daniel 6:10 (KJV) Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

Paul and Silas were beaten and locked in prison, and at midnight they prayed and sang praises to God.

Acts 16:25 (KJV) And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

God tells us to give thanks in every thing and for all things.

Ephesians 5:20 (KJV) Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV) In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

The Bible says that in the last days men will be unthankful.

2 Timothy 3:1-2 (KJV) This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Don't be one of the nine. Whatever God has done for you, go back and thank Him for it.

Psalms 100:4 (KJV) Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Psalms 103:1-2 (KJV) Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
